                                                                        MIKE KIEFFER

MIKE KIEFFER has served clients in the non-profit world for over 30 years. In 1982 he founded a small boutique firm which, by 1995, he had transformed into the largest specialty executive search firm in the U.S. (Witt/Kieffer), with offices in 14 major cities. After selling his share of the company in 1997, he channeled his energy into founding The Kieffer Group, through which he continues to specialize in working with Governing Boards and “C Suite” executives, providing these leaders with transformational change consulting in the areas of: Executive Coaching, Succession Planning, Governance Consulting and Team Building. In 2000 he strategically aligned TKG with Quick Leonard Int’l, and became Chairman of the evolved organization, Quick Leonard Kieffer. QLK is an executive search firm which works exclusively with Boards of Directors and CEOs in their search for senior C Suite executives for the health sector.

Mike has worked with over 500 non-profit organizations, Governing Boards and CEOs in his career, providing him an extraordinarily broad range of perspective and insight into: Leadership; Organizational Culture; and, Governance issues. He considers Board Performance Evaluation, Executive Coaching/Development and Executive Succession Planning to be seriously neglected areas in today’s business world.

His portfolio also includes personal hands-on experience in serving on multiple Boards including major tertiary health centers, Foundation Boards, a National Health System nominating committee and various Boards of social organizations. While a full time resident of Chicago, Mike served as a member of the Board and the Finance Committee of Children’s Memorial Medical Center. Most recently, he had served as a member of the Board of JC Lincoln Health Network, Sojourner Center, and currently serves on the board of Hope Village.

Mike has a Liberal Arts degree, and an MBA. He has authored a number of articles on Governance and Leadership and has been invited to lecture at several MBA and MHA programs. He has taught at the graduate level at several academic institutions in the greater Chicago area including DePaul University, and now is an Adjunct Professor at ASU, teaching graduate courses in Leadership and in Organizational Strategy in the WP Carey School of Business, School of Health Management & Policy.

On a personal level, Mike and his wife, Karlene, are avid golfers and enjoy fine wine, theater, the Arts and travel. They have two grown sons who live in the Chicago area.
